Historical notes: Over 630,000 of these all purpose jeeps were produced and used in all theatres of war by many forces. A top speed of 60mph and a lightweight construction enabled it to operate in many locations unsuited to other vehicles. Box image (above) shows it in a typical scene on the D-Day landing beaches towing in vital supplies.
